The brief

What we built.

A concept rebuild of an exotic and luxury car rental site: a dark garage that lights up over the lineup, and a booking system and owner back office behind it. The car footage is AI-generated concept art, not the company’s own fleet. A concept we built unprompted, to show what the site could be; not affiliated with the business.

  • A dark garage where the lights come on over six cars and you pick one to roll out: Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, G63, Bentley
  • Online booking with a live availability calendar, add-ons, delivery fees, driver licence and insurance upload, and an e-signed rental agreement
  • An owner dashboard and gift cards, built so any rental company (cars, boats, jet skis) can run on it
  • 23 pages with local search markup for Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero and Fort Myers

The business

Who we were dealing with.

Owner-operated exotic and luxury car rental company in Naples, Florida that says it owns, maintains and delivers every vehicle.

TownNaples, FL
CustomersVisitors and locals renting exotic cars for pleasure, occasions and business or VIP travel in Southwest Florida.

Their brand as it was

  • Black and gold with a winged gold heraldic crest logo and Italian name
  • Voice: 'We Are More Than A Car Rental Company' and 'This Is For People Who Expect Better'
  • Template slider site with a dark Rolls-Royce desktop hero

Worth knowing

  • 22+ vehicle fleet incl. Cullinan, Huracan EVO Spyder, Ferrari 488, McLaren GT, G63, Bentayga
  • Day rates shown include Cullinan $1,495, Huracan Spyder $1,295, Bentayga $595, Corvette C8 $395

The research

How we studied the industry, top to bottom.

Why this business

  • Picked from a scan of Naples, Fort Myers and Cape Coral exotic rentals: local Lighthouse performance 33, LCP 17.9 s, 14.5 MB
  • Naples owner-operator with a 22+ car fleet and a real brand voice
  • Slider headline reads 'Luxury Car Renal' and the Naples hero is a photo of the Miami skyline

The industry

  • Customers are choosing on feel as much as price: the notes frame it as 'how it feels when you pull up'
  • Phone tap-to-call, easy booking, and trust (insurance, deposit, age, reviews) matter; the old site hid these
  • Delivery to hotels, airports and homes, plus occasions such as weddings and birthdays, are selling points the concept built pages for

The local market

  • SWFL luxury rentals mostly sit in Naples
  • Competitors found: Energetic Exotics, Exotics on the Coast, City Luxury Cars, Instant Luxury Rentals, Cloud 9 Exotics, Social Exotics, Auto Boutique Rental; most already modern or not local
  • Delivery areas: Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero, Fort Myers (plus Miami and Fort Lauderdale on their form)
  • The 10 candidate rental sites were scored side by side; the best ones used a sticky Call/Text/Book bar and moody modern heroes

What we found

  • No LocalBusiness schema and no city pages for delivery towns
  • Phone number not visible on the first phone screen
  • No Google reviews link or insurance/deposit/age info up top
  • Desktop first screen was decent; the problems were speed, phone experience and details

The audit

What was holding it back.

Tested 2026-10-27

  • First paint 3.6 s; main content (LCP) 17.9 s
  • Total blocking time 1,560 ms; layout shift 0
  • Page weight 14.5 MB
  1. Mobile performance 33: main content takes 17.9 s on a phone and the page weighs 14.5 MB
  2. Slider headline reads 'Luxury Car Renal' and the page has three H1s
  3. 'Naples, Florida' sits over a photo of the Miami skyline
  4. Phone number is not visible on the first phone screen
  5. 8 of 20 images have no alt text
  6. No LocalBusiness/AutoRental schema and no city pages for the six delivery locations
  7. Pinch-zoom disabled, unlabeled buttons and links (accessibility 82, best practices 69)
  8. 3 generic first-name testimonials, no Google reviews link; only blog post dates from May 2024
  9. A bot-check page blocked the automated phone recording (whether real visitors see it was not checked)

Brand & design

The Garage direction.

The site is a private night garage: the lights snap on bay by bay, you pick a car, it rolls out to meet you, and booking opens right there. It keeps Milano's black-and-gold crest and its own words, and sells the feel of arriving in the car.

  • Black#000000
  • Graphite panel#0C0C0C
  • Ivory#F7F5F0
  • Milano gold#C9A24A
  • Gold highlight#E6C77A

Type

  • Anton display for big headlines
  • Cinzel for the gold serif wordmark and accents
  • Inter body and IBM Plex Mono labels

Signature moments

  • Opening lineup: a dark garage, bay lights snap on one by one, hover a car and it rolls into the spotlight, click to open its page
  • Hold-to-start button fires an engine sound and clip (sound off by default, toggle in header)
  • Scroll-scrubbed car morph band changing between six cars
  • Each car page has a spinning hero, counting stats and a scroll tour inside
  • Booking drawer ends with a valet ticket and a key-fob chirp
  • Finale: the Cullinan leaves as the door drops

Imagery

  • IMPORTANT: all car imagery and footage is AI-generated concept art (stills and video generated in Grok, start frames from Codex), not Milano's actual cars; the stand-in cars are the same models
  • Grok prompts cover six cars: turntable hero still, spin and orbit tour videos, interior and detail stills; plus morph, lineup and round-2 shots (finale drive-out, engine start, delivery, airport, town and occasion heroes)
  • Engine, garage door and key-fob sound effects generated with ElevenLabs
  • Locked-off camera and one start image per shot so each car keeps its shape; takes with changed colour or badges were redone
  • Milano's real crest used from their site; no people, no readable plates

13 mockup directions over three rounds (A to G, then H to J, then K and L plus a mobile K); the user steered to a private-garage idea in Milano's real black and gold brand, 'stick with the brand... then we go wild'.
